balaclavas available in different sizes?

How does full-print (sublimation) differ from screen printing in Humboo's product range?
As a comprehensive manufacturer balaclavas and cotton balaclavas , we select the marking technique to fully utilize the properties of the fabric used. The choice of method depends on the product model you select:
- Sublimation printing (360° full-print) – designed for moisture-wicking products: We use this technology to produce balaclavas with custom prints. Sublimation allows us to print the entire surface of the polyester fabric before it is sewn together. The dye permanently bonds with the fibers, making the print completely imperceptible, crack-free, and—most importantly in sports—it does not restrict the fabric’s breathability. This is a "premium design" solution that we supply to karting tracks and ski slopes throughout the European Union (including Poland, Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia).
- Screen printing – ideal for balaclavas : We use this proven method for cotton balaclavas featuring a logo. Screen printing allows for precise, “dot-by-dot” application of the logo onto the finished balaclava. It is an extremely efficient and cost-effective method for larger runs, ensuring high color intensity and excellent coverage. It is ideal for corporate branding, company events, or as a mass promotional item for customers throughout the EU.
Summary: We always tailor our technology to your business needs. If you need balaclavas custom balaclavas with all-over graphics (e.g., racing patterns, camo), we recommend sublimation printing. If you’re looking for a classic, cost-effective solution made from natural fibers, our screen-printed balaclavas logos are the perfect choice. We carry out both processes at our Polish printing facility using skin-safe inks ( REACH compliant).
Is screen printing suitable for balaclavas with a custom logo?
It is not recommended. Screen printing works best on cotton hoodies and flat surfaces. The stretchy polyester used in thermal hoodies causes the screen-printing ink to sit on the surface of the fibers—it cracks when stretched and wears off more quickly. Sublimation penetrates the fabric structure, making it more durable and safer for this type of product.
How many colors can be used in sublimation printing on custom thermal hoodies?
Sublimation printing has no color limitations—you can reproduce photographs, gradients, complex patterns, and logos at no extra cost (unlike screen printing, where each additional color increases production costs).
Can sublimation printing also be used on cotton balaclavas?
No. Sublimation requires fabric with a high polyester content—ideally 100% polyester. That is why it is the technology of choice for balaclavas . For balaclavas with your own logo, screen printing or DTF printing is recommended.
Does the sublimation print cover the entire balaclava—including the back, sides, and areas around the seams?
Yes—360° sublimation technology covers the entire surface of the product. The graphic design is printed onto the fabric before it is sewn, ensuring that the pattern covers every part balaclavas, including the back and sides. However, when designing the pattern, you should account for possible pattern shifts along the seam lines when creating precise graphic elements, such as text or thin lines.
Will the print compromise the thermal properties and breathability of balaclavas?
No. Unlike other methods (such as films or heavy-duty inks), sublimation dye does not clog or block the pores of the polyester fabric. As a result, personalized balaclavas retain 100% of their properties, including their ability to wick sweat away.
What are the advantages balaclavas flat seams designed to be worn under a helmet?
The main advantages balaclavas flat balaclavas worn under a helmet are:
- Preventing chafing: Thanks to their unique design, the flat seams do not cause painful chafing or skin irritation.
- Superior comfort under a tight helmet: Helmets (such as those used in motorsports) fit snugly on the head. Any thickening of the material or traditional, raised seams can cause pressure points and compromise riding comfort. Flat seams are smooth and lie perfectly flat, eliminating the risk of pressure points.
- Enhanced durability and elasticity: balaclavas flat seams are sewn on specialized machines, often using elastic threads, which significantly increases the product’s lifespan and tensile strength.
How many washes can custom-printed balaclavas withstand without the colors fading?
The sublimation print on thermal hoodies remains durable throughout the product’s entire lifespan. With proper care (washing at 30°C), the dye will not fade before the fabric itself wears out. We do not set a limit on the number of washes, because the dye does not sit on the surface of the fibers but is permanently embedded in their structure at the molecular level.
For our B2B partners in the motorsports and skiing industries in Poland, Germany, and France, this technology ensures that custom-printedbalaclavas maintain a professional appearance even with daily washing. Thanks to the use of REACH-compliant inks, the product remains safe for the user and resistant to heavy use, which is the Humboo standard across all EU markets.
What actually damages a thermal hoodie with a custom sublimation print?
Sublimation printing on moisture-wicking balaclavas with custom designs permanently bonds with the structure of the polyester fibers; however, its appearance can be permanently damaged by chlorine bleach, high temperatures in tumble dryers, and intense mechanical friction. As a manufacturer balaclavas , we use only high-quality knitted fabrics and dyes compliant with REACH standards, which guarantees resistance to standard washing cycles, provided that aggressive chemicals that attack the polymeric dye bonds are avoided.
The greatest risk to balaclavas with logos is exposure to temperatures above 60°C in tumble dryers, which can cause the pigment to reactivate and migrate (blurring the edges of the logo). Additionally, friction against rough helmet components (e.g., sharp Velcro) can cause the fabric to pill.
To ensure that personalized balaclavas retain their technical and visual properties, wash them at a low temperature (30°C) and avoid fabric softeners, which clog the fabric’s micropores responsible for moisture wicking. Higher temperatures do not damage the print itself, but they degrade the structure of the polyester—the fibers lose their elasticity and thermoactive properties, which indirectly impairs the appearance of the entire product.
Does sublimation printing withstand intense physical activity and sweating?
Yes—and that’s one of the biggest advantages sublimation has over other decorating techniques.
Sublimation printing on custom-printed thermal hoodies is completely sweat-resistant, as the dye permanently penetrates the structure of the polyester polymer fibers during the heat-setting process. Unlike surface prints, sublimation does not create an impermeable layer, allowing the fabric to retain its natural thermoactive properties and full breathability. All the printing dyes we use comply with REACH standards, which guarantees the chemical safety of the product when in direct contact with the skin.
Are the printer inks you use safe for your health?
Yes, we use only certified printing inks that are completely safe for skin contact. Our dyes are certified to comply with the EU’s REACH chemical safety standards. This guarantees that the product contains no harmful substances and is safe even with heavy use.
Do freezing temperatures and cold weather affect the durability of the print on ski balaclavas featuring a custom logo?
No—sublimation printing is completely frost-resistant. Extremely low temperatures, even below -40°C, do not adversely affect the durability of the sublimation print used on custom-printed thermal balaclavas.
Do wind and weather conditions cause sublimation prints to fade?
No. Wind, rain, snow, or atmospheric moisture do not affect the durability of the print—the dye is inside the fiber, not on its surface, so external factors cannot reach it.
The only scenario in which weather conditions could cause indirect damage is prolonged exposure to intense UV radiation —after many cycles of heavy use in the sun, the colors may lose a small amount of their vibrancy, just like any colored fabric.
Can QR codes, URLs, or other technical elements be included in a sublimation print?
Yes—360° sublimation printing on thermal hoodies allows you to incorporate QR codes, URLs, barcodes, serial numbers, and certification marks directly into the graphic design.
To ensure the QR code remains readable after printing, make sure it is at least 4 × 4 cm in size, use error correction level H (you can find more information on proper QR code design here and here), ensure high contrast between the modules and the background, and place the code away from seams. It’s a good idea to shorten the URL to your brand’s own domain.
In which color mode should the design be prepared?
Files must be prepared in CMYK mode. Since sublimation printing uses CMYK, designs in RGB will be converted by the manufacturer—and the colors after conversion may differ from the original on screen. If your brand uses Pantone colors, it’s a good idea to provide their numbers as a reference for the printer.
What is bleed, and why is it important in sublimation printing?
Bleed is the area of the graphic that extends beyond the cutting line—typically 5–10 mm. Since the sublimation print is applied to the fabric before sewing, the bleed ensures that the pattern remains continuous after the product is sewn. Without bleed, white or unprinted stripes will appear along the seams on the finished ski balaclava featuring your logo.
How can I design a graphic so that the seams don't ruin the pattern?
Key design elements—logos, text, faces, and central motifs—should be placed away from the seam lines, within the safe zones marked on the template. Seams cause minimal shifting and stretching of the design (1–3 mm)—this is imperceptible with plain backgrounds and abstract graphics; with text or precise lines and shapes, it may be visible. For this reason, the text in your design should not overlap the sewing areas on the pattern.
Should fonts be converted to curves before sending the file?
Yes—this is mandatory. All fonts must be converted to outlines (outline/expand) before exporting the file. If the manufacturer does not have the font used in the design installed, the text will be replaced with the default font—which will completely change the appearance of balaclavas with your custom print.
